By default, the Dock is always visible at the bottom of the screen of your Mac, sometimes taking important screen real estate, especially if you are using a MacBook or MacBook Pro. If you don’t like having the Dock permanently show on your screen, you can easily set it up so it automatically hides and shows.
How to automatically hide and show the Dock
On your Mac, launch System Preferences, then navigate to the Dock panel. Check the box that reads Automatically hide and show the Dock. The Dock will instantly hide out of view. When needed, simply move your mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen, and the Dock will appear.
Note that this works regardless of the location of your Dock.
