With more and more emphasis placed on security, it's generally recognized that Chrome is not the best place to store sensitive data. Back in 2018, a Google+ bug exposed 52.5 million users' data.
At Smart Sourced IT, we recommend using a password manager to store sensitive data. More specifically, we recommend 1Password due to its superior security. Feel free to reach out to us if you would like more information on implementing a password manager across your organization.
The following steps will walk you through viewing your stored credit card data in Chrome. The additional optional step of deleting your stored credit card data is also included.
1. View Stored Credit Card Data in Google Chrome
- Open Google Chrome and click the three horizontal dots in the upper-right hand corner of the window followed by Settings.
- Select Autofill from the left navigation panel followed by Payment methods.
- Under Payment methods, there will be a list of all saved credit cards.
2. Delete Stored Credit Card Information from Google Chrome
- Open Google Chrome and click the three horizontal dots in the upper-right hand corner of the window followed by Settings.
- Select Privacy and Security from the left navigation panel followed by Clear browsing data.
- For Time range, select All time. Make certain the only checkbox selected is Autoform fill data and click Clear data.
That's it!
