Have you ever been in a situation where it would be handy to see your Apple mobile device's screen on your Mac? Have you ever tried to walk a family member through menus on their iPhone or iPad without being able to see the interface? Shudder
Unfortunately, there's not a good way to remote directly in to an Apple iDevice unless it's done by Apple themselves. Fortunately Apple has a way to view their own mobile devices baked into macOS. This allows for remote screen viewing of the iPad or iPhone through the Mac using 3rd party software such as Bomgar, Splashtop, or TeamViewer to name a few.
- Connect your mobile device to your Mac using the original charging cable that originally came with it.
- On your Mac, press [command] + [space] and enter Quicktime Player followed by pressing the [return] key.
- A dialogue box will appear which would allow the opening of an existing file, but we are going to ignore it. Go to the application menu in the top bar and click on File > New movie recording.
- Click on the down arrow next to the red dot and select the name of your mobile device which should then appear on the screen.
- That's it!
